We decided that the mural should be a map, highlighting the fruit growing region of the East Cascades and Columbia Valley. For this work, I gained inspiration from old hand drawn maps. I was trying to balance a literal map and fine art. I wanted bold color to describe the incredible topography... the maps foreground emphasizes the majesty of the Cascade Mountain Range with some 8000 ft peaks. The middle ground takes you down to the fertile region of the Columbia River at somewhere around 2600ft. The backround quickly rises up to 2739ft to the Waterville Plateau.
